Did I Find Something Better Than Fifty Shades of Grey?
in her Bared to You trilogy,
which follows the overly sexual lives of Gideon Cross and Eva Tramell. Although
I wasn’t able to write posts about the preceding books in this series, rest
assured I ate them both up. Gideon Cross is the powerful multi-millionaire
control freak with a dark past, while Eva Tramell is the sexual damaged 20-something
trying to start a new life in New York. Upon their meeting, both Cross and
Tramell are instantly drawn to each other. Now in we jump to the third book
where they are finally getting married.
A lot of people have compared this
series to the ultra famous Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy. I can see the
similarities, but there are some unique things about this book and these
characters that make this book feel real and relatable.
1.
Cross
and Tramell have “vanilla sex”. They just have a lot of it. I’d say a lot more
than the average couple. I actually liked the fact that this couple has
“regular” sex and it’s not all about bondage and whips and red rooms. It makes
their romance a lot more relatable. The only thing I didn’t like about their
sex is that they use it as a form of communication, which is clearly an
unhealthy way for a couple to communicate.
2.
Both
Cross and Tramell have really fucked up pasts. I think Sylvia Day’s decision to
tackle child molestation and how it affects both men and women was a brave one
and I commend her for doing that. It makes me feel like this book is about more
than just sex, which I felt with “Fifty”. Giving both characters a depressing
past really adds depth to the story and helps the reader understand why these
people are the way they are.
3.
I
appreciate the fact that Eva is a strong independent woman. Being a strong
independent woman myself I can relate to a woman who knows what she wants and
isn’t afraid to ask for it. A woman who doesn’t compromise her independence for
a man.
Overall,
I’d give this book 5/5 stars and I’d definitely recommend this series to anyone
who likes this “mature audience” style of writing. I can’t wait to start the 4th
and 5th book of this series!

Hello 2015!
As you can tell, I am very late on this "Hello 2015" post considering we're already 17 days into January. But hey, better late than never right? So as you can see I changed the name of my blog to Sheri's Library: A Journey Through My Bookshelves. This year I decided to focus on making a dent in the 1000+ books I currently have on my bookshelves. Don't get me wrong, I will definitely be buying new books here and there, because who are we kidding, there's no way I can go a long period of time without wanting a new book. I figure I can turn this into something fun and put all my books in a book jar and have friends and family, and myself of course, pick a certain number of books out each month. You never know what you're going to get and it's like a journey: A Journey Through My Bookshelves.
Thank you for joining me on this journey, and I look forward to sharing all my bookish discoveries with you!
Happy Reading!

Before I Go to Sleep: The movie changed many things
Gang Leader for a Day: Very interesting insight to gang culture
Bared to You: Gideon Cross is waaaayyy too controlling, overbearing, a hypocrite, and quite possibly a little crazy BUT i like this story better than Fifty Shades of Grey! I like that Eva is also an independent strong woman!
Eleanor and Park: Super cute love story!
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince: Pretty good but not my favorite
Reflected in You: The ending of this sequel had my jaw dropping
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: The feels...
The Martian: Science, science, science....
Wicked: Elphaba is amazing! This book is very detailed and you must pay attention. The stage play is great! #blackelphaba
We Were Liars: That ending tho...
Holiday on Ice: This book is best read out loud.
Unbroken: Such a beautiful story. I had no idea that America and Japan were at such a terrible stand off. I learned so much about human perseverance and will power. The movie was also very well done. Good job Angelina!
